Real Keys to Good Health. {123.}
****
Radhasoami!
There is much being written nowadays
about the apparent body-mind connection.
Actually, a holistic approach would regard
the soul-mind-body as the true substratum.
The soul determines a person’s faith,
ego, personality, sanskaras or aspirations,
karmas or deeds, entire living,
spiritual capital, and destiny.
It’s the soul that
determines a person’s mind.
Since the body is but the medium
through which the soul intends
to attain its worldly desires
and spiritual goals,
it is the soul that actually determines
the body that the person will have.
Your health, energy, ailments, pain,
healing, recovery, and the like
are inextricably linked with your soul’s urgings.
The sword weaves a scabbard
most fit for its purposes.
Basically, it is harmony
with the divine will
that leads to peace
and lasting good health.
Besides, the effect of karmas
needs be worked out before
the soul may attain salvation,
mandating the eruption of diseases.
No, this isn’t really mumbojumbo,
and consuming Prashad {sanctified things}
is a superb means
of eradicating one’s karmas.
The point I am emphasizing
is that goodness and spirituality
are eminently good for one’s health,
for very logical reasons.
It is your minuscule soul that can
recreate every single cell of your body,
streamline every single process occurring within it,
better than the best of medicines prescribed
by the world’s best doctors possibly can.
Sure, you need meditate and
awaken your soul’s faculties adequately,
but it is verily possible.
I have glimpsed as much
in my humble earnest strivings;
may Grace guide me onwards,
I trust the divine Law.

Radhasoami!
Religion is analogous with God,
and God synonymous with faith.
God is primarily one’s belief
in what constitutes true reality,
governs life and determines fate.
Life is just too base
to represent this existence’s best;
there must be the transcendental.
Faith enables both better living
and directed efforts towards salvation.
During times of especial trial,
try and test your faith,
polishing it into an anchor
that you can rest upon.
Anyone can believe in God
upon the evidence of miracles;
but genuine faith is absolute
and finally evokes God satisfactorily.

‘“Jakey hirday Guru partheeti, Kaal karam wasey nahin jeethi.’
Jis par Guru ki Kripa hogi, uskey nazdeek Kaal aur karam nahin avenge. Kul rachna ke sir par uska danka hoga. Koi chinta usko nahin hogi. Jo Sath Dhaar hai, wahi Mauj ki Dhaar hai. Aise premi ki kul karrawayi, kya swarthi kya parmarthi, Mauj se hothi hai. Uskey man mein koi chaha nahin rahti. Phir Kaal wa karam kisko dukh deven. Jiski karrawayi Maalik ki Mauj se hothi hai, ussey Kaal wa karam khud darte hain aur kaampte hain. Aise premijan ki pal pal chin chin mein Guru Aap Sambhal Karte Hain. Waha bhee aath pahar Guru ke rang mein ranga rahta hai aur prem mein bheega rahta hai. Jo Radhasoami Dayal ke Charnon mein aye hain, maha badabhaagi hain.”

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:
‘“A person whose heart flows with love for the Lord,
Kaal and deeds cannot defeat such a one.’
The one who is the recipient of the Lord’s Grace finds Kaal and deeds remaining distant from him. He will have suzerainty over the entire creation. He will have no worry. The Current from Satloka is the Current representing divine Will. All the activities of such a devotee, whether it is material or spiritual, occur determined by the divine Will. He has no desire left in his mind. So, whom can Kaal or deeds cause sorrow? Indeed, Kaal and deeds are themselves scared of the devotee, all of whose matters are governed by divine Will, and remain trembling. The Guru Himself Takes care of such a devotee every moment. Even he remains absorbed in the Guru’s essence around-the-clock and remains bathed in love. Those who have taken refuge in Radhasoami Dayal’s Lotus Feet are extremely fortunate indeed.”

Radhasoami!
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Shubh Basant par sabko badhayi
Prarn lekar shuru karo kamayi.
Yeh Basant hai athi khaas
Sumiro Radhasoami Naam har shvas
Paavo Radhasoami Dayal hamesha paas.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Dekho Basant par leela nyari
Saraho Radhasoami Dayal Mauj anokhi.
Dayalbagh mein Nij Dhar Muskrayi
Samasth rachna par phool Barsayi
Sabmein udhaar ki khwahish Jagayi.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Aapsi “Prem” khyal sahayog badhayi
Sangath ko bemisal kaum banayi.
Satsangi par hai badi zimmewari
Abhi imtihaan baaki hain kayi
Guru Len Radhasoami Dham Pahunchayi.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Dekho Basant Dayalbagh rangoli roshni
Jaano Puran Dhani Daya bhari.
Radhasoami naam ki mahima Sunayi.
Satsang jahan mein khoob Phailayi
Apna sarvodhaar Maqsad zabardasth Badhayi.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Ab jaago bahut rahey sowayi
Thamam umar rahi jaaye beethi.
Kaam karo bahut rahey alsayi
Dayalbagh jhanda duniya gaad phehrayi
Buland hausle jung fatah dilayi.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Dekho Basant Khethon shobha hariyali
Kaliyuga mein Satyugi rasa pragatayi.
Radhasoami Satsang idhar udhar hoyi
Baagiyon ko Apni Maafi Bakshi
Sab bhaktan Liya Khainch Bulayi.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Gaayo Basant aarti birah bhari
Param Guru Zarur Karenge poori.
Jahan se hui swabhavik dhoori
Maya jaal chooki thaki haari
Deedaar ki tadap Badhayi karari.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Suno Basant dhun antari bahari
Paayo Huzur ki Prasannta gahri.
Guru se “Prem” daulat paayi
Bhakti Seva mein anand laayi
Apni qismat lee khoob jagayi.
Mere pyare behan aur bhai
Har roz Basant manaye Satsangi
Maalik Hidayath par bithaye zindagi.
Shabd mein surat sahaj samayi
Ghat mein Darshan nith Karayi
Uddhaar jeete jee haasil Karayi.

Features of the Ideal Religion. {119.}
****
Radhasoami!
The ideal religion ought to ideally
have the following few
ideal components & features,
in a life where little
is ever ideal.
It should firstly have a
divine dimension to it,
having been founded by a
divine incarnation;
for what’s a religion without God?
There must be continuity in the
Mission of the religion,
beyond the shedding of body
by its founder;
an intergenerational lineage of gurus
appears rather inevitable.
It should address the human individual’s
need to pray, and teach one how to
meditate so as to
awaken one’s soul and
internally access the lofty divine realms,
thereby ensuring one’s salvation.
The ideal religion must ideally
naturally usher in
a better society
and a world that is
{saner}, more just and peaceful.
All this seems to be
a tall order.
So, how many religions
meet the above criteria,
or does even one do so?
Let time prove and effect,
for God’s will is mysterious,
subtle, but final.

Living Constantly Close to Death. {117.}

Radhasoami!
One should be close to God.
God is the reality the fortunate access
after having quit life itself.
The blessed rare manage to experience God
internally in meditation while alive.
It pays to remain aware,
clear about things,
God is beyond,
reality is transcendental,
body is bondage,
life is shackles.
One can considerably hasten
one’s evolution towards salvation,
by living in constant
remembrance of one’s death.
It is said that people who survive
a close brush with death,
emerge from it much changed.
This must be quite true.
Hence, one can consciously cultivate
such an attitude within oneself.
It is bound to trigger off
several positive stirrings within your being.
Live: close to death,
earnestly persevering for salvation!

Radhasoami!
I have a strange view
{indeed, most of my views
seem strange to most people,
but that’s beside the point!}
that only an excess works.
Life is a crowded, chaotic flux
and if you would have a difference be,
one needs to become an extremist.
Lest my words be misconstrued,
let me clarify my meaning and context.
Merely believing in God
Doesn’t get you paradise.
Merely becoming an initiated Satsangi
doesn’t ensure your early salvation.
Just dallying with spirituality
will attain you nothing.
Only an excess really works in life.
Either you do it,
or you just don’t;
alsorans amount to nothing!
So, devote yourself to spirituality
with your whole heart, will and soul.
If this means you need renounce
sundry comforts or pleasures,
well, just choose the greater value!
If this means enduring persecution
in its variegated base forms
at the instance of people
motivated by envy and malice,
continue absolutely along your path,
trusting the mystical Law
to vindicate you finally.
So, take stock of your state,
realize that you are far
from paradise yet.
Start doing the needful now;
God’s Grace guarantees your success!

Rationale for Prayer for Politics.
****
“Zyadathar yeh sawaal poocha jatha hai ki jab humare Radhasoami Dharma mein raajniti ko sarvtha tyagne ke Adesh Diye gaye hain, tho phir humse savere Satsang mein Maalik se raajniti sikhane ki prarthna kyon karwayi jathi hai ki
‘Rajniti sadh bhakti reethi, doyi Sikhayo humko.’
...
... Huzur Saheb Ji Maharaj ka ek Bachan padha gaya. Is Bachan mein Mussolini ki safalta ke char kaaran bathaye gaye hain. Satsang mein bhee yeh thatv maujood hai. Mussolini ki safalta ka chautha kaaran yeh tha ki wah ek nayi jathi wa nayi riyasath banana chahta tha. Humare liye yeh gun bahut mahatvapoorna hai kyonki Satsang bhee ek nayi riyasath wa nayi jathi ko janam dhe raha hai.
...
Humari is disha mein gathi dheemi bhale hee ho, par Humara kaam theek roop se zaari hai. Is naye rajya wa nayi jathi ko banane ke liye sirf bhakti reethi se hee kaam na chal sakega. Iske liye vishesh prakaar ka prabandh, vishesh prakaar ka manav charitra, aur vishesh prakaar ka vyavhaar shasak aur shasith ke madhya avashyak hai. In baathon ke liye raajniti avashyak hai ....”
---- Param Guru Huzur Lal Saheb Ji.

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:
“It is often asked that when Orders to completely eschew politics prevail in the Radhasoami Religion, why we are made to pray to the Lord in the morning Satsang every day to Teach us politics, as in
‘Rajniti sadh bhakti reethi, doyi Sikhayo humko.’
...
... a Bachan of Huzur Saheb Ji Maharaj was read out. This Bachan discussed the four causes for Mussolini’s success. The same factor exists in Satsang too. The fourth cause of Mussolini’s success was that he wanted to found a new race and a new empire. This trait is very significant for us because Satsang is also giving birth to a new nation and a new race.
...
Our pace in this direction may yet be slow, but Our work is continuing in the right manner. For the formation of this new nation and new race, the mere path of devotion will not suffice. For this, special arrangements, a special sort of character, and a special behavior between the administrators and the administered will be mandated. For these things, politics is necessary.”

Karmas’ Eradication within One Lifetime.

“Choonki kayi janmanjanm ke yani sanchit karma aur uske pahle janm ke prarabdh karma aur isi janam ke kriyamarn karma, sab isi ek janam mein Santon ne bhugthane hain, so agar in karmon ka poora poora phal bhugatna pade, tho yeh chola hee chhoot jaaye aur hum saha na saken. Magar Santon ne jo Farmaya hai ki sooli ka kanta aur man bhar ka chatank bhar kar dethe hain, yeh bilkul theek hai, warna ek janam mein saare karma saaf nahin ho sakte.... Is tarah bahut se karma abhyaas mein katthe hain.... Tho har ek jeeva jo chahiye ki jab Charnon mein aaya, pichle jo karma kar baitha tha unke wasthe pachtaye aur ayanda kadam phoonk phoonk kar rakhe.... ‘Radhasoami Choden na jise Gahen ri.’”

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:
“Because the load of the accumulated karmas of countless lifetimes and the latent karmas of the previous lifetime and the manifest karmas of the present birth, the Saints are to cause all to be worked out in this single lifetime, so if the effects of these karmas were to be borne in full, then the body would have to be shed and we would not be able to endure it. However, as the Saints have Declared that the stake gets converted into a thorn and They reduce a ton to a mere speck, this is absolutely right, otherwise all the karmas could not be eradicated within one lifetime.... In this manner, umpteen karmas get worked out while in meditation.... So every being ought to, ever since surrenderance unto the holy Feet, feel remorse for one’s past karmas and henceforth perform karmas with grave deliberation {caution}.... ‘Radhasoami Doesn’t Let go of those He Grasps.’”

Unse jo Dhaaren nikal rahi hain, waha tho bahut hee roshan aur prakashwan hain aur bahut dhoor dhoor thak asar karti hain.”

“Then Pronounced upon the subject of the company one keeps that it has great influence upon one. From everyone, the currents of lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego, umpteen rays of these five tendencies are every moment emerging out and creating an {aura or} energy-field around the person. In this manner, from a worldly person, like a fountain, such impurities keep sprouting forth.... So, whoever remains in the company of such a person, will definitely be susceptible to the adverse effects of such a dirty impact. But great benefit is derived from the company of the evolved souls and of the Saints, because from their beings, the streams of serenity and forgiveness flow out, forming a refulgent aura, ... If one is ever fortunate enough to attain the company of a Saint or a evolved soul, then one benefits incalculably therefrom, because They are the repositories of the Pure Spiritual Region. The currents that emanate from Them are extremely splendrous and shining and cause an effect up to considerable distances.”

Hence, a thing is loaded with its owner’s karmas. If someone takes that thing, he will take upon himself its such karmas. Indeed, even a Satsangi should not take anything belonging to another Satsangi, nor should eat or drink at another’s expense, because everyone’s karmas are different, some more, some less. If the force of circumstances {or situations} constrains one to take something from someone, then one should give something in return for it. “Is baath ka khyal rakhna chahiye ki duniyan mein agar badshahath bhee mil jaave, tho waha bhee chandroza hai. Isse khushi asli nahin ho sakti hai. Farz karo ki ek shakhs badshah hai. Doosre shakhs ne tan man ke parey jo surat ki shakti hai, usko jagaya hai, jisse waha is zindagi mein bhee khush rahta hai aur marne ke baad bhee. Ab khyal karo ki jo badshah mahaz 10, 20, 50 saal badshahat karke khush rahta hai, aur doosra, jisne surat ki taakath jagayi hai, hamesha is zindagi mein wa baad marne ke bhee khush rahta hai, tho waha zyada khush hua ya badshah? Isliye tum sabko chahiye ki padhne ke saath saath apni surat ki taakath bhee jagane ki koshish karthe raho aur duniyan ke khushi ke samaan ke paane par magan nahin hona chahiye, yeh khyal karke ki yeh thehrau anand nahin hai ya ismein asal phayda humari rooh ka nahin hai.”
---- Param Guru Huzur Saheb Ji Maharaj; Bachan Bhag I, No. 13, Page 312.

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:
“It must always be borne in mind that even if one were to get kingship in the world, it would only be temporary. It cannot lead to true happiness. Suppose there is a king. Another person has awakened his soul’s powers, which are beyond the body or the mind, so that he gets happiness both in this life and in the hereafter. Now consider that the king who remains happy with his kingship for mere 10, 20, 50 years, and the other, who has awakened his soul’s powers, and remains happy both in life and even beyond it, so is he the happier person or the king? That is why you all should, along with your studies, continue trying to awaken your soul’s powers, and upon acquiring a worldly pleasurable object, you should not feel overjoyed, bearing in mind that the happiness it yields is not lasting, or that it doesn’t result in any real spiritual benefit for oneself.”

The Death that All Dread. {112.}
****
Radhasoami!
Param Sant Kabir Sahib Ji
has penned umpteen memorable lines,
including the following:
“Ja marne se jag darey / Mere man anand
Kab mariho kab paiyo / Puran parmanand.”
That is,
“The death that all fear / I long for
Oh, when would I die and attain / Complete bliss.”
Caught up as we are
in the whirl of life,
it might be worthwhile to
pause and wonder about what
lies on the other side,
how one might cross over,
and achieve one’s true salvation.
Death is not to be feared;
it is the gateway to redemption.
Life is not the ultimate reality;
it’s a kaleidoscope offering a chance
for deserving souls to ensure salvation.
Let’s all value and live rightly,
focused on the paradise beyond life!

Humanity Must Follow Religious Teachings.
****
“From time immemorial, religion has been teaching the great truth of the Fatherhood of God and brotherhood of man, but selfish man has all along turned a deaf ear to this great teaching. The Divine Plan, however, cannot be set at naught. The great teaching of religion has been ignored, perhaps, because it was imparted in a language soft and sweet. Naturally, therefore, it is now being impressed on us in the somewhat harsh, and altogether unpleasant language of economic strife. If we do not assimilate the teaching even now, and continue to disregard it as hitherto, you take it from me that the day is not distant when we shall have to learn it in the extremely harsh language of the machine-gun and the bomb. As I said a little while ago, the Divine Plan cannot be set at naught. Believe it or not, Universal Brotherhood must prevail among the nations of the world and humanity must get prepared to recognize the Fatherhood of God.”

I Never Asked for It. {111.}
****
Radhasoami!
One might wonder at why
one happens to be alive.
One may choose to think,
one never asked for it.
But that isn’t really true.
One was born because one
must have wanted one’s birth.
One is alive because one
essentially wants to be alive.
It’s all got to do
with the soul and one’s
accumulated karmas and present sanskaras
{respectively meaning, deeds and tendencies}.
Sure, one may be encumbered
by one’s past negative karmas,
but all that can be
nullified with one’s present karmas.
It’s said that one can
fight fire only with fire.
So, when the world asserts itself,
battle it with one’s deep spirituality.
When people trouble you,
battle for your values.
The self is willy-nilly pitted
in a battle with most of non-self.
I mean battle figuratively, of course,
though it frequently occurs literally too.
One ought to live
intensely committed to God,
with indifference, goodwill, compassion
towards all of life,
{no, there’s no fundamental contradiction
in what I wrote above}
and earnestly persevering for one’s salvation.
This is the very best
of all philosophy and religions,
of course as I humbly see it.

Meditation: Its Frequency and Length. {110.}
****
Radhasoami!
Now, this is a very sensitive
and tricky matter pertaining to meditation.
How frequently should one meditate?
Once a month would be laughable.
Once a day has been mandated
by one of our Revered Leaders.
Maalik has Made it the norm
for half an hour of meditation
before Satsang both
in the morning and evening.
However, I am referring to
private meditation in one's room.
Well, once a day is the very least
that one ought to meditate regularly.
How long should one meditate?
Any length that one
feels inspired to do,
and is comfortable with.
It could be 15 minutes
to an hour, or more.
A single very long stretch of meditation
is better, more evolving, rewarding,
than many short meditation snatches.
Meditation is a frame of mind,
a proximity to God,
that does not necessarily require
privacy or one's eyes closed.
However, that’s for evolved souls.
Initially, one ought to
sit in meditation regularly
for brief time spells.
This is merely training the body,
the vessel, carrier of one’s soul.
Once the body gets
habituated to this discipline,
genuine spiritual play begins.
Next, the mind is
to be gradually tamed and conquered.
Finally, Grace tugs the soul.
It’s then: Over to God!

On Developing Purity of Intellect.
****
“... to obtain full benefit from religion and true Guru, it is very essential to have pure intellect.... How to acquire the purity of intellect? The person who wants to have purity of intellect has essentially to keep his eyes and ears open. He should listen to everything and ponder over it, and after thoroughly considering the pros and cons, adopt those that are essential and useful, and give up the nonessential and useless ones. He should act only after careful consideration and listen attentively to whatever is said. Thus, if effort is made to bear in mind the above instructions and one tries to develop purity of intellect, there is no reason to doubt the success. Even if one gets true Satsang, he would derive no benefit without developing a pure and chaste intellect....”

Life is An Action Medium. {109.}
****
Radhasoami!
Life is a medium of action.
One defines oneself by one’s actions.
It is only by acting that one can
live and experience life.
Speaking is a potent activity,
and practically indispensable among humans.
However, even thought represents activity;
thoughts are also actions of another genre.
One’s prayers constitute noble actions.
Meditation, sitting alone with one’s eyes closed,
signifies vibrant action on a lofty plane.
Hence, don’t confuse merely
physical activity with actions.
Life is a platform requiring activity,
but one is free to choose
the sundry planes and modes
one wishes to perform one’s actions in
for corresponding effects and results.
Foregoing the worldly reality may

nor grant others the right
to act on your behalf.
Unto you your actions and fate,

Radhasoami!
Life is a medium of action.
One defines oneself by one’s actions.
It is only by acting that one can
live and experience life.
Speaking is a potent activity,
and practically indispensable among humans.
However, even thought represents activity;
thoughts are also actions of another genre.
One’s prayers constitute noble actions.
Meditation, sitting alone with one’s eyes closed,
signifies vibrant action on a lofty plane.
Hence, don’t confuse merely
physical activity with actions.
Life is a platform requiring activity,
but one is free to choose
the sundry planes and modes
one wishes to perform one’s actions in
for corresponding effects and results.
Foregoing the worldly reality may
open oneself to divine glories.
Don’t let your actions
get committed by default,
nor grant others the right
to act on your behalf.
Unto you your actions and fate,
and unto me my valued desserts.

Earnest Prayer to Radhasoami Dayal. {108.}
****
Radhasoami!
The Radhasoami religion teaches one
how to attain eternal bliss.
Satsangis ought to be shielded from sorrows,
and habitually bask in happiness.
Besides, I like good news,
even of others,
especially about Satsangis.
So, may Radhasoami Dayal Mercifully Accept
the following humble and sincere prayer
at His Lotus Feet from me:
Please Grant that I receive
only good news,
and preferably, very good news,
and even better good news,
about those who’re Your Own,
Your Chosen, Loved, and Beloved.
Let my living be interspersed with
such recurring, joyous, heartening good news.
Let the loneliness and barrenness
of my life be brightened,
with such soothing and satisfying good news.
Let this joy now become
my constant companion
until I achieve the eternal bliss
of final fusion in Your Being.

Praying for Instant Salvation, Lord. {107.}
****
Radhasoami!
The following Paath {or hymn} lines,
from the holy Sar Bachan {Nazm}
Mercifully Penned by our August Founder,
have always meant immensely to me:
“Ab tho man kar chuka pukaar /
Radhasoami, Karo udhhaar.”
That is,
“The heart has now cried out,
Radhasoami, Redeem me.”
I find the use of the word
‘ab’ {or ‘now’} to be especially significant.
It appears to hide within it
untold striving, agonies, realizations.
So that finally, the heart
beseeches the Lord for salvation.
Well, much as this might seem
to be denying or escaping life,
that’s what the essence and import
of Radhasoami religion is all about.
This perishable world is to be quit,
life is to come to an end,
and the soul is to merrily
retrace its path to its
original, blissful and eternal Paradise.
Radhasoami!

“... Magar kisi kaam ka sinful {paaproop} ya virtuous {punyaroop} hona Khuda ke sambandh mein samajhna chahiye. Jis baath se Khuda Khush ho, wah punyaroop hai aur jisse Wah Nakhush ho, paaproop hai.... Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:
“... But we should construe an act as being sinful or virtuous in the context of God. If something pleases God, it is virtuous and what displeases Him, is a sin.... Satsangis have the privilege of being able to enquire from the Grand Master regarding what the Supreme Lord Likes and Dislikes. One should act by this. It says in the {holy} Sar Bachan:

Radhasoami Religion is about Death. {106.}
****
Radhasoami!
This world is not real.
Life is brief, and merely
an opportunity to attain salvation.
The meaning and purpose of life
stem from but its eventual cessation.
This may sound strange,
but is nevertheless true.
It is the deserving soul
that early, clearly and seriously
dedicates itself to achieving redemption.
Meditation in the prescribed manner,
helped by the Guru’s Grace,
can enable any sincere devotee
to experience death during meditation,
to transcend and master death.
Death naturally loses its sting
for such a blessed devotee.
One realizes what reality is,
and knows that one has
attained a paradise that’s
glorious, blissful and eternal.

Infinite Glory of Radhasoami Name. {105.}
****
Radhasoami!
The Radhasoami Name is the Name
of the Supreme Godhead, Radhasoami Dayal.
The Radhasoami Name has not been
invented by any human.
It has no link whatsoever
with the words “Radhe Shyam”
that feature in traditional Hinduism.
Radhasoami is the verbal equivalent
of the subtle divine sounds
that constantly and eternally reverberate
in the loftiest paradise of Radhasoami Dham.
God’s Name is virtually
synonymous with God’s Being.
The Surat Shabda Marg {the Soul Sound Path}
stresses that any human can internally
by practicing the prescribed meditational techniques
under guidance from the Grand Master
attune oneself to, actually listen to
the divine melodies that ceaselessly resound
in the divine realms.
The Radhasoami Name links the devotee
with the loftiest paradise in existence.
Merely chanting this glorious Name
of infinite potence, humbly, reverentially,
will have you invoke Grace
and guarantee you eventual redemption.
Radhasoami!

Note: This is inspired by & derived from the scriptures, practices & teachings of the Radhasoami religion of Dayalbagh.

Three Kinds of Human Powers.
****
“Moreover, man has three kinds of powers, viz. (i) powers of the physical body and the senses, (ii) powers of the mind and the intellect, and (iii) powers of the spirit. Whosoever makes effort and awakens all these three kinds of powers is known as superior to all others and can attain a high region and can also learn the secret of the Supreme Being, while one who simply awakens the powers of one kind, would get benefit to that extent only, but nobody can attain the status of a person who, by means of practices, awakens the powers of his spirit and such a person would become dear to the Supreme Being and the entire creation would carry out his wishes.
... It should be noted that it is the duty of every man and woman that he should awaken at least to some extent all those three kinds of powers by means of continued practice.”

No Problem, Worry, Sorrow, Fear. {103.}
****
Radhasoami!
The human is a limited person,
shackled by various
imperfections and inadequacies.
However, let’s realize that
in the ultimate analysis,
there is no real cause for
any problem, worry, sorrow, or fear.
How can any problem exist
for the devotee, blessed recipient
of the Param Guru's Grace?
How can any devotee worry
knowing the Supreme Lord
Is Omniscient and Omnipotent?
How can any misery be
when the Guru showers bliss?
As the Paath {or hymn} lines affirm:
“Guru adbhut sukh dikhlaya /
Kya mahima jaaye na gaaya.”
That is.
“The Master has Granted me unique bliss /
I cannot even sing its glories.”
There need be no fear
for one Protected by the Param Guru.
So, laugh at your difficulties,
trusting in the Guru’s Grace and Help.
Life is a brief play;
let us make the best of it
with the Param Guru's Grace.

Religion’s Beginning: God or Soul. {102.}
****
Radhasoami!
The world is full of billions
who profess to follow various religions.
Can people be regarded religious
merely because they subscribe to
certain mandated weltanschauung or beliefs?
Well, that might be deemed religiosity,
but not as I see it.
Religion begins with God
or the human soul.
Have you beheld God?
If not, then you're not religious.
You have seen your face,
you have touched your nose,
but have you experienced your own soul?
How can you profess to follow
a religion that teaches one how to
internally raise one’s soul’s heavenwards
if you haven’t even verified
that the soul exists within?
It’s like staking all you have
on a certain journey without confirming
that the touted train actually exists.
God is supposed to be reality,
so let God be realized within!
I think religion is becoming
mere words, words and words,
empty words, and meaningless words,
words bandied about for effect,
words sold for petty profits,
words hurled to cause injury.
Where are the loving words,
which guide, purge, heal, redeem?
So, help me God,
truly practice your religion.
“Dehu Deedaar dhoor kar purda /
Tab mero man maane.”
That is,
“Allow me to behold Your Countenance,
by Removing Your Veil,
only then shall I be satisfied.”
Please Grant me Your Darshan internally
and awaken my soul’s powers ... the fastest possible!

Perform Worldly Activities without Attachment.
****
“Sawaal: Kya duniyavi karrawayi jis kadar zyaada ki javegi, bandha zyaada hoga?
Jawaab: Bandhan us kaam mein hotha hai, jismein jeeva ko kisi kism ka rasa aatha hai. Lekin jo kaam ki farz samajh kar kiya jaave, aur jisse alhada hone ko jhat pat dil chahta hai, ki kisi tarah par khatam ho jaave, usmein bandhan na hoga. Isliye parmarthi ka farz hai ki duniya ka kaam farz samajh kar mehnath se karta rahe. Ismein koi harz nahin hai, balki thoda bahut haath panv ka kaam sabko karna chahiye. Albatha jo abhyaas mein zyaada mehnath kar sakte hain, unki safayi abhyaas ke zariye hona mumkin hai. Magar aisa abhyaas bahut mushkil hai.”
---- Param Guru Maharaj Saheb Ji; Bachan Part II, Pages 83-84, Bachan No. 76.
****
Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:
“Question: Would greater involvement in worldly activities lead to greater attachment to them?
Answer: Attachment to an activity arises when the living being derives some sort of pleasure from it. But when some work is performed as a duty, and which the heart wants to quit at the earliest, wishing it somehow got over soon, then no attachment will result therefrom. Therefore, it is the duty of the spiritually inclined to continue engaging in worldly activities, regarding them as one’s duties. There is no harm in this; indeed, everyone should do some physical work of the hands and feet. However, those who can persevere more in meditation, can possibly expect purification to occur through it. But such meditation is extremely difficult.”

“The Radhasoami Faith means that the soul and mind are made to ascend upwards and located in a realm where true salvation occurs. So, those who have joined this Faith ought to regulate their behavior and lead such lives as get them comfort and benefit. Those who do not conduct themselves in such a manner can never acquire this benefit, and then what would be the difference between them and the worldly people? The spiritually inclined ought to keep themselves distant from pleasures of the sense organs, should renounce the desires for temptations, and must earnestly persevere to meet the Supreme Lord.”

Practice This: Less is More. {101.}
****
Radhasoami!
The aware, spiritually inclined, soul
will be naturally focused on the transcendental.
I may add that every Satsangi
ought to be such a soul.
So, a Satsangi should involve oneself
only minimally in base, worldly matters.
The world is hardly real;
life is a brief exercise.
The only worthwhile engagement is
the soul’s awakening and ascent
into the lofty divine realms.
Material possessions, worldly successes, and
sensual happiness ought to matter
the least they possibly can.
Less is more;
the less that you value the world,
the more do you deserve of God.
There is an inverse relationship
between the world and God,
and Satsangis better realize it.
Desires ought to be reduced,
to enable yearning for God.
As per the Paath {or hymn} lines,
“Dil ka hujra saaf kar,
Jaana ke Aane ke liye /
Dhayn gairon ka hata,
Usko bithane ke liye.”
That is,
“Cleanse the receptacle of your heart,
For the Beloved to Arrive,
Withdraw attention from others,
To enable His occupancy.”
So, be gladly satisfied with less,
since less of materialism
spells more of spirituality,
provided you make the right efforts,
as prescribed, towards that fruitful end.

“Sachha bhakt wah hai jiske dil se un sab cheezon ki, jinki ki duniya mein mahima hai, kadar uth gayi ho {yani ilm, hunar, karigari wageirah ki} aur sirf kul Maalik ke dhyan mein laga rahta hai.”

“Sumiran, Dhyan, Bhajan aur Pothi ka Paath karne waale Satsangi tho bahut milthe hain, magar aise Satsangi bahut kam hain jo sachhe dil se yeh chahte rahte hon ki is duniya ke ragdon jhagdon se jald chutkara ho, yaani shareer choot jaave aur Maalik ke Charnon mein pahunche. Is kism ki sachhi khwahish hona badi baath hai. Kisi waqt dukh aan kar pada, us waqt maut maang lena aur baath hai. Magar duniyawi sukhon ke hothe hue bhee jab sansaar se vairagya aur Maalik ke Charnon mein anurag dil mein bana rahe, tab samajhna chahiye ki prem jaaga.... Is kism ke sachhe bhakton ko Maalik Aap se Aap Kheenchta hai.”

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:
“There may be found many Satsangis who perform Sumiran, Dhyan and Bhajan, and recite Paath from the scriptures. But there are extremely few who honestly and wholeheartedly desire that they be freed from the troubles and squabbles of this world, i.e. they quit the mortal body and attain the Supreme Godhead’s Lotus Feet. An intense yearning of this nature is a great thing. It is a different matter if one asks for death while under duress from some particular grief. True love may be regarded to have been engendered if one develops indifference to the world and longing for one’s Supreme Parent even in the midst of worldly joys.”
